16 cold e-mails, 1 welcoming reply and a night full of YouTube tutorials, that’s how Antwerp-born photographer Indi Mouart got his first gig as a music photographer, shooting for the late Lil Peep in September 2017. This hands-on mentality, autodidact approach to the art of photography and a breath of fresh energy led to VICE calling him the leading example of this current DIY generation pre-covid.
In the following months Indi quickly grew a large portfolio containing the music industry’s biggest names in intimate moments, such as a young Billie Eilish on her first European Tour, Travi$ Scott headlining Europe’s biggest festivals and the illusive Frank Ocean quickly before a paparazzi escape in Paris.
His documentary style of photography of the modern who’s who of hip-hop artists, celebrities and influencers includes tour reports, press kits, varied video footage and portraiture.
Indi’s work has been featured nationally and internationally by Vogue, I-D, VICE, Elle Magazine, Highsnobiety, COLLAGE, Knack Focus, HLN and more.
